WELCOME TO LITTLE ADVENTURES DAYHOME!!
My name is Melissa and I am mom to Abi who turned 2 in September. I love being a mom and love spending my days with my daughter and the other children that come into my home. I have always enjoyed being with children, babysitting for neighbours and family friends since I was 12, and I even travelled to Japan to teach English to children 1.5-15 years of age. I love all the children in my dayhome, and Abi loves having her friends here as well :) I enjoy the fact I have been able to find a career that works for our family and gives me the opportunity to stay home with my daughter and to get to be a part of so many other families lives.
Little Adventures Dayhome is located in NW Calgary, in Greenwood Village Mobile Home Park, across the highway from C.O.P. We are easily accessed from 16th Ave, Stoney Trail and Nose Hill, servicing the communities of Greenwood, Bowness, Crestmont, Valley Ridge, Montgomery, Tuscany, Scenic Acres, Silver Spring and welcome anyone who works off these major arteries as well! We live in a clean, smoke free, drug free, pet free home. As Little Adventures Dayhome is a private dayhome with no interaction with an agency, I encourage all parents to feel free to come into my home any time they would like (but please be respectful of the other children in our home, especially those napping), as well as, to let me know if they have any concerns or questions. I have current Emergency First Aid and CPR, as well, we (my husband and myself) have current police checks/vulnerable sector checks.
For me, quality childcare while you are at work or in school is paramount, I want you to go about your day stress free (or as close too, you are still a parent) knowing your child is learning and having fun, being loved and tended to and most importantly that you have chosen a quality childcare provider. The children are permitted throughout the main living area of our home (which is air conditioned during the summer), as well, we will be devoting a large portion of our deck to an outdoor playroom (we hope to find a heater for cooler months) and have dedicated our backyard where we have toys, a ball tent, picnic areas, water and sand tables, a swing set, kiddie pools and so much more. Activities we participate in are weekly arts and crafts time, daily story time, music and dancing, monthly movie days, as well as, seasonal and birthday parties. In addition, I feel it is important for children to spend time outdoors; therefore, weather permitting we will spend time in the backyard or deck to get fresh air and explore outside (see the new flowers, the trees changing colour, etc...). Children are encouraged to have fun, while we squeeze learning in our everyday activities.
In addition to fun activities, Little Adventures Dayhome will supply your child with a warm nutritious lunch and 2 healthy snacks (served at 8:30am and 3:30pm). Monthly menus are provided so you can keep an eye on what your child is eating! If your child has any allergies I will incorporate this into the menu as best I can. Picky eaters are encouraged to try new items (we encourage a 2 bite minimum), and as long as they try an item I am more than happy to find something else (like a sandwich, cereal, or some leftovers) for them if they don't like the meal/snack. I try to include each childs favorite meals once in a while, so if your child has a new favorite please pass this information along!
Feel free to look around my website and email me with any questions/concerns or comments., and you are welcome to check out our facebook page: www.facebook.com/LittleAdventuresDayhome I have references from past and current families available upon request.
